LiveWire and KYMCO to Launch Maxi-Scooter in 2026 | Motorcycle.com

Nov 06, 2024Nov 06, 2024

LiveWire and KYMCO announced they are ramping up their partnership, confirming plans to launch electric maxi-scooters powered by the S2 Arrow platform.

The new arrangement expands upon the existing arrangement between LiveWire and KYMCO, which owns a stake in Harley-Davidson’s electric brand and has extensive experience producing scooters. Under the new agreement, the two will launch a maxi-scooter in the first half of 2026, with a focus primarily on the European market.

“The belief and recognition that we could create a class-leading maxi-scooter using our S2 Arrow powertrain has been a constant, KYMCO sharing their expertise has changed belief into reality, and we are excited to commence on this journey with such a globally recognized leader in the category,” says LiveWire CEO Karim Donnez.

While details about LiveWire’s first maxi-scooter remain scarce, the brand did release images of two prototype concepts, though there’s no promise either is representative of the first production model. Only a few images of either model were released, and they don’t appear to be functional prototypes.

The pink model has a very sleek look with a large fairing. It’s difficult to get a sense of depth in the two supplied images, but there’s almost a bit of a Street Glide batwing look to it. The S2 Arrow core is laid down horizontally, running beneath the long saddle, with the motor driving the rear wheel via a belt.

The blue scooter has a more rugged looking design, with chunky and knobby tires, crash bars, and luggage mounts. The swingarm looks to be the same as on the other concept, which means we can expect a similar shock layout on the left side of the pink scooter.

Both scooters share a pill-shaped headlight, which might be the only element that will likely carry over to the first production model.

With an expected launch in early 2026, we’re going to have to wait a while before we know whether either of these prototypes will resemble the finished product.
